Two different faults look identical on the sheet. Which one it is depends on whether the times from your other mats agree.
Every mat is out by the same amount
The gun is wrong. Correct the start time and score again. Nothing else needs touching, and no reads are affected.
One mat is out and the others are right
That box's clock was wrong. A box takes its time from GPS. One that never saw the sky, or that somebody set by hand, stamps everything the same amount out.
You will usually spot it as something impossible: a runner reaching halfway after they finished.

Everybody is a few seconds fast
Check what your start point is doing. If a mat at the start is named as a start point, Podium times each person from when they crossed it rather than from the gun, which is what you want in a big field. If it is not, everyone is timed from the gun and the people at the back look slower than they ran.
That is a setup choice, not a fault. Leave it alone mid race.
Do not fix this by editing times
There is no need and it will cost you the audit trail. Both corrections above are applied when the results are worked out. The reads keep exactly what the box recorded, so a correction can be changed or removed and everything recalculates.
