RFID Race Timing Systems held it's first timing conference
in Coral Springs, Florida USA on January 24-25. Most
of our US timers attended the 2 day meeting which
covered all aspects of sports timing. The brand new
HiDefinition Digital System was unveiled to the participants
boasting a single 4 x 2m mat and sixteen individual
read antennas. Some participants then finished off
the weekend with a run in the ING Miami Marathon.
The latest High Definition
Digital single mat system boasts 16 receivers per
8 square metres and is designed for all start and
finishing densities
Timing around the world for February
The RFID Race Timing System was recently purchased
by Mr Price Group Ltd. (South Africa) to time the
biggest open water swim in the world, the Midmar
Mile. Almost 17,000 swimmers competed over two
days and race organisers were impressed by the ease
and power of a dependable RFID system.
On the same weekend, SportsTiming
NZ timed the prestigous Coast to Coast which traversed
the south island of New Zealand. Despite a freak wave
on an exceptionally high tide swamping the finish
line, backup mats continued to time participants as
they sprinted in 1 foot of seawater.
Back in Australia, Multisport
Australia timed the Geelong
70.3 half ironman triathlon that boasted almost
1000 finishers.
